Deputy President William Ruto now claims ODM leader Raila Odinga is to be blamed for the unmet promises by the Jubilee administration.

Speaking at his Karen residence on Friday, January 22, when he hosted 38 MCAs from Mandera County, the deputy president stated that Odinga derailed the government agenda by “overturning Jubilee Party’s priorities”.

The DP was alluding to the handshake pact President Uhuru Kenyatta entered into with Odinga on March 9, 2018, an agreement that has seen the Head of State and the former prime minister enjoy a cordial relationship.

“Raila Odinga is to blame for the failures of Jubilee Government because he came and overturned our priorities, changed our focus and destroyed our Party… Today, we (Jubilee members) don’t even have a Party,” said Dr Ruto.

Some of Jubilee administration’s unmet pledges include laptop projects for primary school pupils, free secondary school education programme, nine new stadia, government internship opportunities for thousands of graduates, among others.

The deputy president, in the Friday function, discussed with his guests, among other issues, the security situation in Northern Kenya, which he termed as “a matter of concern”.

“We remain committed to finding a lasting solution,” he said. “The perpetual disruption of normal life, businesses and school programmes is regrettable,” added the DP.

“Security agencies are working with the local community to restore law and order in the region.”
