Another high school student has been arrested in Nyamira County after an alleged attempt to hack his deputy principal on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at Mokwerero Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba Constituency.

The student was reportedly seized within the school compound while armed with a machete and a sharpening file by teachers who rescued the deputy principal from the botched attack.

In a police report seen by Mediamax Digital filed in Nyamira, the Form Two student, 18, rushed to the office of the Deputy Principal Jared Morara and attempted to kill him using a newly sharpened panga.

However, the teacher called for help and members of the support staff and others teachers went to his rescue.

Kennedy Ogecha, the school principal, said that police already have taken over the matter.

“The police are currently investigating the matter and the student has been arrested,” he said.
