Police officers in Nyamira County have launched a manhunt for eight robbery suspects who broke into a home, cooked ugali and meat before making way with valuable goods.

The armed robbers, who were dressed in Jungle jackets, waylaid Stephen Gichana at his home in Bomondo village as he was waiting for his son to open the gate.

“The robbers forced him and his son to open the gate after hitting him on the forehead with a blunt object,” a report filed at Nyamira Police Station read in part.

Immediately, the robbers gained access to the house at about 8 pm, they tied up Gichana, his wife Damaris Kemunto, 38, and his son Elias Gichana, 22.

The robbers then ransacked the house and stole valuable items which included two Samsung phones valued at Sh50,000, an Oppo phone valued at Sh20,000, and a laptop valued at Sh70,000.

The robbers then grabbed meat from the refrigerator, prepared it and also made Ugali which they downed leisurely before leaving the home.

“The robbers stayed in the house for over two hours and thanked the victims for being very cooperative,” the police report said.
