The late Matungu MP Justus Murunga is the biological father of one of the two children of Agnes Wangui Wambiri, a woman who had his burial plans temporarily stopped as she sought to be recognised and involved in the funeral arrangements.

Following the court-ordered DNA test, the results that were released on Monday, December 14, 2020, revealed that the late MP’s DNA matches 99.9 percent that of one of Wangui’s children.

“Based on the DNA profiles generated from the buccal swab sample obtained from XY and Justus Murunga, there are 99.9%+ more chances that Justus Murunga is the biological father of XY,” read the paternity test results.

In her court papers, the woman said that the former Matungu MP had not only sired two children with her but had also expressed the wish to settle down with her.

However, Wangui’s lawyer Danstan Omari revealed that the paternity test results for one of the children was negative, meaning Murunga was not the father.

Nonetheless, Omari said he would request the court to consider the child as dependant of the late MP in the succession suit.

When she sought the paternity test results last month, Wangui said that she met Murunga in 2012 when he was working at a ranching company in Embakasi, Nairobi.

The two, she said, kick-started their relationship that yielded a son and a daughter.

According to Wangui, the late parliamentarian was in the process of building her a house in Karen, Nairobi, when he died.

“The deceased had also expressed the wish of settling down with me at our would-be home,” Wangui said in her court papers filed Monday.
