The penchant of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) for harsh attacks on just about everybody and anything is the reason why President Uhuru Kenyatta deactivated his personal account.

On Wednesday, President Kenyatta revealed that he found himself pre-occupied with negative comments on his Twitter posts, spending an awful amount of time trying to understand why KOT were always harsh.

However, after much reflection, Uhuru said that it dawned on him that he was better off dwelling on constructive activities like strengthening family bonds than wasting time on Twitter.

“You keep reading what they are saying. Then you call people to complain about the negative comments. Afadhali nilale,” said the Head of State.

When State House deactivated the social media handles of the President, Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita said the decision was made following unauthorized access to Kenyatta’s official account.

The President revealed his Twitter trauma during the launch of the drive to collect 1 million signatures to endorse the Building Bridges Initiative report.
