Georgia Secretary of State, George Raffensperger, has announced that there will be a recount of votes in the State.

Raffensperger, in a televised address, said the vote in Georgia is too close to call, and that there will be a recount because the margin is so small.

As of Friday evening, Democrat Joe Biden was leading in the presidential race in Georgia with 2,449,590 votes against Republican Donald Trump’s 2,448,492 votes.

Biden’s lead represented 49.4% of the votes counted against Trump’s 49.4%. At the time, 99% of the votes had been counted.

Georgia boasts of 16 Electoral Votes, which could confirm Biden as the winner of the presidential contest or offer renewed hope to Trump’s team.

As of the time Raffensperger was making the announcement, there were 4,169 outstanding ballots to be counted across a handful of counties in Georgia, Gabriel Sterling, the state’s voting system implementation manager, said in a press conference Friday, CNN reported.

President Trump cannot find a route to 270 Electoral Votes without Georgia and Pennsylvania, so his chances of securing re-election will hinge on developments in the two states.
