Police in Buruburu in the wee hours of Tuesday morning arrested several teenagers who attended a night party within the estate.

Officers raided the house where the minors were partying as they were planning to leave after members of the public raised the alarm.

The minors are expected to be arraigned in court and charged with contravening Covid-19 rules.

Buruburu police station boss, Adamson Bungei, asked parents whose children are missing to check with the station as investigations are ongoing.

“Investigations have started and we shall inform you more as soon as we get all the details,” he said.

Police said that the teenagers were making noise on Monday night which forced members of the public to alert them.

Officers spent the better part of Monday night laying a trap to arrest the teenagers but their efforts were in vain as the youths had locked themselves in the building.

The officers were forced to camp outside the building until morning when the teenagers opened the house door.

An amateur video in our possession showed how the police arrested and handcuffed the minors.

This comes just a day after Machakos County Commander Issa Mohamud was attacked by unknown men when he went to question the management of Whisky Falls Lounge why it was operating during curfew hours.

Mohamud, who was accompanied by his driver, Salim Mungai Kariuki, learnt that the pub was operating at 2 am on Monday morning and when he went to order its closure they were attacked.

The matter was reported at Athi- River Police Station under OB number 06/25/10/2020.

“In the process, the attackers violently robbed the driver of his jacket, two Oppo mobile phones valued at Sh34,000 and a Tecno phone valued at Sh12,000,” the report read in part.

The attack forced the police commander to fire in the air as he called for reinforcement which led to the arrest of Bazuu Masaku and Lucas Onyango.

The officers also arrested over 50 people who were in the club at the time. They will also be charged with the offences of contravening Covid-19 directives.
