A Nairobi City ‘parking boy’ has been sentenced to one year in jail or pay a fine of Sh200,000 for assaulting a security guard at Naivas Supermarket on Moi Avenue.

Thomas Nyagwoka Ogoro pleaded guilty before a Nairobi Magistrate’s Court for assaulting and injuring Rodgers Omukanga on September 25, 2020.

According to the police report that was read out in court, the complainant is a security guard working with Blue Armour Security firm while the accused, one of the many people who ‘hoard and sell parking spaces in Nairobi, was identified as a resident of Pipeline Estate in Nairobi.

The altercation that led to the security guard’s assault occurred when the watchman was directing vehicles to a parking space.

He told the court that the assailant obstructed him demanding to direct the vehicles to another yard.

Frustrated, the parking boy attacked the security guard, raining blows on him.

The security guard, police said, sustained a cut on his face from a metallic ring the assailant was wearing on his fingers.

The incident was reported at the Central Police Station.

The one-year jail sentenced was issued by Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot.
