In a cautious approach to reopening the economy, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday reopened bars which have been closed for over six months.
Starting Tuesday, bars will now be selling alcohol to revellers up to 10 pm.
President Kenyatta also extended the nationwide curfew for a further 60 days citing the need to be cautious to avoid a second wave of the pandemic.
However, he revised the timings for the curfew to be starting at 11 pm from Tuesday.
On the reopening of schools, the President expressed reservations on the readiness of learning facilities to adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols.
“Schools will be open once we have a clear assurance of the safety of students in learning institutions,” said Kenyatta.
