Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has taken an issue with his fellow presidential aspirant Musalia Mudavadi, accusing him of being a copycat.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party boss claimed that the Amani National Congress leader Mudavadi has been replicated his political manifesto, slogans, and ideas.

Speaking in Machakos town, Mutua challenged his rival to come up with his own ideas.

“A few weeks ago, during my speech as I announced my 2022 candidature, I said that I was a “Safe Pair of Hands” and that I was a neutral and balanced leader what Kenyans need. A few days later, Musalia Musavadi copied me and declared he was a “safe pair of hands,” he said.

Mutua also slammed Mudavadi for imitating his strategy to use Sheng to reach out to the youth.

Sheng, according to the Urban dictionary is a Kenyan urban language constantly developing out of a mix of English, Kiswahili and vernacular languages. It is common amongst the youth is currently the most dynamic language in the world.

“Kenya needs creative and innovative leaders who have thought through how to transform Kenya and not copy others. When you copy, it means you have run out of your ideas. Mudavadi, has copied me and released a video targeting the youth where he struggles to speak in Sheng to them,” said Mutua.

Mutua and Mudavadi seem keen to appease and increase their popularity among the Kenyan youth voters.

According to the 2019 National and Housing Population Census conducted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the country’s youth population stands at 75% of the total population of 47.6 million.

With the presidential election just barely two years away, State House aspirants are eager to earn the youth vote.

Mudavadi recently published a birthday message in which he addressed his followers in Sheng, urging the youth to shun away from tribal politics, the same message the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader has been spreading.
