Kenya’s coronavirus cases crossed the 22,000-mark on Sunday after 690 more people tested positive for the virus.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said that it tested 5,393 samples in the last 24 hours in which 681 Kenyans and nine foreigners tested positive.
“This brings the number of positive cases to 22,053 and the number of cumulative tests to 315,723,” said the Health ministry.
The number of fatalities continued to climb as well after five patients succumbed to the virus.
“On a positive note, 58 patients have recovered from the disease, all from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,477,” said the Health ministry.
Nairobi County is still the leading Covid-19 hotspot having reported 535 new infections followed by Kiambu with 56 new cases.
Of the new cases, the youngest is a six-month-old infant.
