Actor Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, was on Monday morning, buried at his rural home in Nanderema village, Funyula Constituency in Busia County.
It was a sad moment for the family of the renowned TV actor whose show Papa Shirandula was a household name that was watched in entire East Africa Community to be buried with less than fifty people in attendance.
According to Busia County COVID-19 emergency response team co-ordinator, Dr. David Mukabi, they allowed only a few people besides family members to attend the burial to adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health to curb the spread of coronavirus disease.
Papa Shirandula died on Saturday morning at Karen Hospital after a short illness.
The late TV actor tested positive for coronavirus and was allowed by the medical team to isolate himself at home before he developed breathing difficulties on Friday night before he was rushed to Karen Hospital where he was pronounced dead before he was admitted, according to his wife.
Shirandula’s father, Mr.Cosmas Bukeko, said that coronavirus pandemic has denied him a chance to give his beloved son a decent send-off.

The body of Papa Shirandula arrived at Nanderema village on Monday morning, July 20, at 3 am and was buried minutes after 8 am.
Busia County health workers carried out the burial in accordance with the strict guidelines of the Health ministry.
