Papa Shirandula’s burial likely to take place Monday, says actor’s family

Preparations are underway for the burial of actor Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, at his rural home in Bukeko village in Funyula Constituency, Busia County.

The burial of the actor is set to take place immediately the body arrives at the home in compliance with Health regulations.

However, the family told K24 Digital that since the body is likely to arrive late on Sunday, the burial will take place on Monday morning, July 20.

The Busia COVID-19 response team led by Dr. David Mukabi later confirmed the burial will take place on Monday at 8 am.

Bukeko, a household name in Kenya because of his role in the popular Citizen TV show Papa Shirandula, died on Friday night, July 18, at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi.

Before being taken to hospital, the actor was on self-isolation at home after having tested positive for coronavirus, according to his brother Charles Wanyama.

Speaking to the Sunday Nation, Wanyama said that his brother was allowed to battle the virus from home as doctors said his symptoms were not serious.

The actor’s brother said that they took him to the Karen Hospital but he died at the parking lot before he was even admitted.
