A section of Jubilee MPs allied to the Tanga Tanga group trooped to the home of Sirisia MP John Waluke to comfort his family with prayers following his imprisonment for defrauding a state agency.

MP Waluke was imprisoned in June for more than 10 years after he was convicted alongside others for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board of millions of shillings in a maize tender scandal.

The Jubilee lawmakers who camped at Waluke’s home on Sunday, July 19, are Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.

Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, who is eyeing a governor’s seat in 2022 General Election was among leaders who turned for the special prayers.

The Tanga Tanga-allied leaders said they will not stop supporting Deputy President William Ruto despite the purge in the ruling party.

On the plight of the imprisoned MP, the family urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene on their behalf to have Waluke released from prison.

The MPs pleaded with President Kenyatta as the Jubilee leader to pardon his Bungoma County Jubilee chairman, saying he was the one popularised the party in the region.

Waluke and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu were ordered to pay nearly Sh2 billion or serve time in jail for defrauding NCPB.

The MP’s family said it is a painful experience for the children to wake up every day asking the whereabouts of their father, who now must raise at least Sh1 billion to be released from prison.
