Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday remained unshaken amid a bid to eject from office.

As MCAs caused a raucous in the Assembly by kicking out two colleagues during the sitting, Governor Waiguru said the ward reps tabling of the impeachment order was not only illegal but also baseless.

“This morning the Kirinyaga County Assembly has placed on its Order Paper the notice of the ill-informed and ill-timed impeachment motion against me. As I have stated before, the issues raised in the motion are baseless and a waste of valuable time,” said the governor.

Ms. Waiguru told the MCAs that she will not be bullied into submission.

The count boss also threatened to seek orders for contempt against the Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker for entertaining an illegal motion.

“For some inexplicable reason, the members pushing this motion believe, or have been led to believe, that they are above the law. They believe they are not bound by court orders. Their allegiance seems to be to a master pulling and pushing the levers from outside the Assembly, and not to the rule of law,” said Ms. Waiguru.

During the sitting that started after 10 am, two MCAs who support the governor were ejected from the assembly for allegedly disrupting the session.

Karumandi Ward MCA Anthony Munene said that he wanted to remove his name from the list of ward representatives who signed the impeachment motion but was not given the chance.

Instead, he was violently given his marching orders alongside nominated ward rep Lucy Njeri.
