President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, May 23 announced that 31 more people in Kenya have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing Kenya’s total to 1, 191.

The 31 cases, the president said in his address to the Nation, were discovered in 2, 576 samples tested between Friday and Saturday.

The Head of State announced that Kenya hasn’t registered a new death in the last 24 hours, and, therefore, the total number of fatalities remain at 50.

So far, 380 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease.

President Kenyatta in his address from State House-Nairobi, said his administration has been sending Ksh250 million to vulnerable families each week to cushion them against the economic hardship wrought by coronavirus crisis.

The Head of State said the money is usually sent directly to the identified needy families to minimise the lengthy process of acquiring the funds from persons or organisations tasked to make the distributions.

The president also launched an 8-point economic stimulus package.
