Three Kilifi County officials, among them chief officers, have been arrested for failing to provide documentation for the recently launched Sh891 million Covid-19 Medical Complex.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives pounced on Health and Medical Services chiefs, Bilali Mazoya and Ali Ibrahim, on Wednesday morning.

The county secretary, Arnold Mkare, was the third official seized in the ongoing investigations.

The officers want documents to audit how the Sh493 million allocated for phase I and Sh398 million for phase two were spent.

Police also pursuing the county’s chief of finance and head of procurement and supply.

EACC officials want to establish if there was prior planning and budgeting before the expensive project was undertaken.

The sleuths also want to establish if procurement laws were followed during the tendering process and how the tenders were awarded.

Further, EACC wants to investigate the contract for the ward beds, Intensive Care Unit beds and ventilators.
