A German national has been detained by a Nairobi court for 21 days to allow police complete investigations over alleged involvement in child trafficking and pornography.
Police told the court that they arrested the German national, Thomas Scheller, outside the German Embassy in Nairobi on Monday, May 4.
At the time of his arrest, police said that Scheller was in the company of a minor suspected to be a victim of child trafficking and defilement.
Police said that the victim is a pupil at a primary school in Kisumu County.
Following his arrest, the suspect led police to lodging in Ngara, Nairobi where he is said to have spent with the minor between April 30-May 4.
Police said that the German national managed to travel from Kisumu to Nairobi with the 15-year-old girl despite the Nairobi Metropolitan Area lockdown.
In addition, police said that Scheller has been on their radar in over alleged involvement in child pornography in Kwale County and its environs in a matter that was reported to the Ukunda Police Station in 2019.
Police told the court that their cyber intelligence unit revealed that the German national shared child pornographic content to a registered sexual offender in his home country.
Scheller will be detained at the Langata Police Station in Nairobi.
