Nairobi and Mombasa remain the hardest hit counties by coronavirus disease with the new 11 cases confirmed on Tuesday reported in the two cities.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Rashid Aman, said seven of the new cases are from Nairobi while the other four are in Mombasa.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya now stands at 374, with two of the new cases being children aged three years.

However, it is not all gloom and doom as the number of patients who have recovered from the Covid-19 disease has risen to 124 after 10 people were discharged from treatment and care centres in the last 24 hours.

“There is no need to stigmatise this disease…This is not the time to celebrate and lose sight of the enemy. It is necessary that we continue to strictly observe the stringent measures advocated by the Ministry of Health,” said Health CAS Aman.

Dr Aman said that the rising cases in Nairobi and Mombasa counties is indicative of increased local transmission of coronavirus.

Majority of those who have contracted coronavirus disease are the most productive members of society, accounting for 323 of the 374 cases.

The 11 cases were confirmed following the testing of 589 samples.
