Twelve more people have tested positive for coronavirus disease, bringing the total of those infected in Kenya to 355.
This was announced on Sunday, April 26, by Health Cabinet Administrative Secretary, Dr Rashid Aman, who noted that the number of recoveries has also surpassed 100.
“We have discharged eight patients bringing recoveries to 106. Recoveries are steadily going up while fatalities have stagnated at 14,” said Health CAS Aman.
Eight of the new Covid-19 cases were reported in Nairobi County, with cases in Karen, Kibera, Dandora, Kasarani and Umoja estates.
In Mombasa County, Dr. Aman said that the cases were reported in Mvita, Mishomoroni, Mvita Bondeni and Barsheba.
Three of the 12 cases had a history of traveling from Somalia.
Further, Dr. Aman said that the national government has directed the testing of truck drivers at all border crossing points and the commencement of training of trainers in the counties.
During the briefing, the Education Secretary, Prof. George Magoha, said that the closure of schools has been extended for one month.
Prof. Magoha said that the national examinations for primary and secondary school students are still on as scheduled.
“At this point, the Govt has not decided to postpone the KCPE and KCSE examinations. Let our children enjoy the last week on holiday, ” said the Education CS.
