Content producer Mulamwa says he has quit the comedy industry after being cyber-bullied. The comedian shared the news on his social media pages, an act he symbolized with the burning of the clothes he wears when making funny skits.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make, I’m sorry guys. What was to make me happy has made me sadder. More enemies than friends, too much negativity and trolls,” read part of his post

Mulamwa, as he popularly known in the videos he posts on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms, thanked his numerous fans for always having supported his journey and growth.

”I wasn’t here for fame and bad blood but for fun. Shukran sana kwa [thank you very much] for the support from the fans and everyone else who made it a success. To those who always wished the worst for me, I hope y’all happy now. The stage is all yours. My prayer is that no one else goes through the same again,” an emotional Mulamwa wrote.

However, his post elicited different reactions and caught the attention of many, including one of the biggest comedians in Kenya, Milele FM presenter Jalang’o. He urged the budding comedian to reach out to the industry veterans including Churchill rather than calling it quits.

Jalang’o advised the younger Mulamwa that the journey to success is not easy, that he also went through cyber-bullying but he eventually learnt how to deal with detractors.

His co-host, Mwakideu, also had a word of advice to the veterans in the industry that they should always reach out to the young and upcoming comedians to guide them.

Cyber-bullying can lead to a drop in self-esteem and depression.
