Kenya registered two more cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country as of Saturday, April 11, to 191.

The two cases were discovered in 491 samples tested between Friday and Saturday.

The two — a Kenyan national and a foreigner — are aged 2 and 31, with none of them recording a recent history of travel out of the country.

One of the patients hails from Mombasa, whereas the other is a resident of Nairobi.

While addressing the press at Afya House, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said Kenya has thus far tested 2, 054 contacts of previous confirmed cases; 1, 546 of this group has been released after testing negative for the virus.

The government remains with 508 contact persons to test, said Dr. Mwangangi.

The CAS said 109 out of the 191 confirmed infections are male, whereas 82 are female.

A bulk of the confirmed cases (124) are aged between 30 and 59 years, representing 65 per cent.

Patients aged 60 years and above are seven, representing 3.7 per cent.

CAS Mwangangi said two more COVID-19 patients were discharged from quarantine facilities after testing negative for the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 24.

Deaths arising from coronavirus stand at 7.
