Kenyan singer Vivianne Kenya has made a striking return to the spotlight with the unveiling of her second pregnancy in a music video.

After months of silence, the singer has surprised her fans with the news, which she teased in the visuals for her latest track, Zima Moto.

In a video shared on her Instagram on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Vivianne showcased her baby bump against the dramatic backdrop of a setting sun.

The video, filled with stunning silhouettes, features the singer in figure-hugging outfits that subtly reveal her pregnancy as she moves to the rhythm of her new song.

Zima Moto marks Vivianne’s return to music after a long break. The video features her as the lead vocalist and also as the video vixen, capturing behind-the-scenes moments of her posing and dancing to the infectious beat.

The raw, behind-the-scenes footage shows the production team at work, giving fans a glimpse into the creative process.

One of the producers even takes a moment to express his pride in the project, calling it one of the best they’ve ever produced.

I’ve done many music videos before, but I’ve never been in someone else’s like this. What the song felt for me is I got survival. I could just feel the words; I could tell the power behind the song that she was surviving.”

A new sound message

Vivianne’s return with Zima Moto breaks her long musical silence, offering a striking contrast to the playful, girly energy of past hits like Chum Chum, Feel it, and her duet with Otile Brown, Do It.

While her vocals maintain their signature softness, the song’s lyrics and visuals delve into deeper, more powerful themes.

The video captures the spirit of the recent wave of protests in Kenya, featuring vivid imagery of youthful demonstrators wrapped in Kenyan flags, marching boldly through the streets.

The storyline celebrates resilience and defiance, mirroring the core message of the protests. Footage of protestors raising flags and hands also appears in flashes, amplifying her message of justice and resistance against oppression.

In her lyrics, Vivianne speaks about self-empowerment and unshakable determination;

“Naja tu kuzima moto but the fire inside I can’t contain it. Yaani hakuna mwingine ataniangalia kama sio mimi. Hizo makelele nimezitoka nimesare. My spirit is so high, nyota inawaka wallahi.

New chapter

While Vivianne’s pregnancy has captured the attention of fans, many, in the comments section of her video, asked to know who the child’s father was.

The news sparked a flurry of reactions on all social media platforms that she posted it in, given the time she’s been away from the public eye.

Her surprise return comes exactly three years after her public breakup with longtime partner and producer Sam West, which happened in 2020.

The couple’s marriage ended unexpectedly, and Vivianne later opened up about the difficulties she faced during that time.

In an interview with a local TV station in December of 2023, Vivianne candidly discussed the strain in her marriage, revealing that the cracks had been there for some time before they publicly announced their split.

She spoke about how unrealistic expectations and unresolved issues ultimately led to their separation.

“Nowadays, it feels like we punish each other for not being what we want. There was a lot of betrayal, and his patience just ran out,” she shared at the time.
