State Department for Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo on Saturday, January 18, 2025, met education sector bosses from Nyanza to assess performance in the just released 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, in the region.
Omollo in a statement shared via his official X account revealed that he held a meeting with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Regional Director for Nyanza, County Directors of Education, and the leadership of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) – Nyanza chapter.
The meeting, according to PS Omollo, focused on the recently released KCSE results.

He further noted that they used the opportunity to critically analyze the performance trends and identifying areas for improvement.
Omollo went ahead to state that their meeting also examined the current state of educational institutions in the region, addressing key challenges and opportunities for growth.

Our discussions centered on the recently released KCSE results, critically analyzing performance trends and identifying areas for improvement. We also examined the current state of educational institutions in the region, addressing key challenges and opportunities for growth,” PS Omollo stated.
2025 agenda
Moreover, the education sector leaders from the Nyanza region came up with an agenda for the current year.
Omollo says that the set new year’s agenda focuses on strategies to enhance academic standards.
They are also determined to strengthen institutional management and ensure that the Nyanza region schools are well-positioned to deliver quality education.
“The meeting set a clear agenda for the new year, focusing on strategies to enhance academic standards, strengthen institutional management and ensure that our schools are well-positioned to deliver quality education,” PS Omollo stated.

Nyanza Schools’ performance
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba officially announced the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results on Thursday, January 9, 2024.
In Nyanza, Maseno (9.7286), Maranda and Kiage Tumaini led the way, even as Kanga High School in Migori (9.3) and Orero High School (9.29) sat among the top 30 nationally.
However, St Peter’s Abwao Secondary School in Suna West Sub-County in Migori had all its results withheld after it emerged as the number one Nyanza school in previous KCSE 2023 results.
