Musician Bien-Aimé Baraza was the headliner of the opening event of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Nairobi, and if videos on his social media pages are anything to go by, the artiste didn’t disappoint.

According to Instagram Stories shared by the Grammy Award winner on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, attendees were left in awe after he performed for close to one hour, showering them with his top-selling hits.

The artiste serenaded the attendees, who included football coaches from all over Africa and top-rated players, with hits like ‘Extra Pressure,’ ‘Wahala,’ and ‘Time of My Life’.

While speaking to the press outside the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), where the event was going down, Bien denied that he was under pressure performing for such an elite audience and at such a big event.

Pressure gani maze. Nimefanya hii kazi all my life. It’s not pressure; it’s an honour,” he said.

The artiste noted that this was part of his coming-of-age journey and that it was an honour to have been invited to be the main performer at the event.

He added that such an event is bigger than him and expressed his happiness because he grew up watching such shows.

Bien vouches for Harambee Stars

The ‘Tujiangalie’ crooner also noted that he was in support of his country’s team, Harambee Stars, despite the fact that they haven’t been performing so well on the pitch.

He said that he is a big fan of the team, and though the African teams they will be facing off with are tough, he is confident they will do well.

He said he has been watching the recent matches they have been playing and has seen them draw. He also mentioned that he has studied the teams they drew with and believes there is a likelihood they will perform well.

He added that they have an advantage because they are playing on home soil and asked Kenyans to come out in droves to support them.

“Definitely, I’m a fan of Harambee Stars. I’ve seen them draw. I’ve seen the teams that they have drawn with, and there is no easy game. Everyone has come there to win. It’s what you do in the game that determines the win or anything. I’m very confident with Harambee Stars. I know they are going to do well. We are here to support them,” Bien said.

The singer also noted that he will be there physically and hinted that he might do a song to support them.

“We are going to make music for them. We are going to support them in whatever way. So, Kenyans, please come out and support the team. Write them good messages on Instagram,” he added.
