Chinese billionaire and philanthropist, Jack Ma, has for the second time donated vital medical supplies to African countries to help in the fight against Covid-19.

Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba online giant, said that he has dispatched 500 ventilators, 200,000 protective suits, 2,000 thermometers, one million swabs and extraction kits and 500,000 gloves.

The huge medical assortment will be delivered and distributed by Ethiopian Airlines just like the first donation.

The Asian billionaire also said that he has established a virtual platform, Global MediXchange for combating Covid-19 with support of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence and Alibaba Health.

“Calling all African medical experts! Chinese frontline doctors are online and ready to share hard-earned lessons. Time is running out, but we can help minimize the outbreak by collaborating. Africa can win this war,” said Jack Ma.

Africa has not been the only beneficiary of the Chinese billionaire’s good deeds.

On March 30, Jack Ma announced that his foundations, Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation, would donate additional urgent equipment to Europe.

The foundations pledged 800 ventilators, 300,000 sets of protective gowns and 300,000 face shields to European hospitals.

Europe has been badly battered by coronavirus pandemic with over 18,000 people have lost their lives in Spain and Italy alone since the disease broke out.

In his first donation to Africa, Jack Ma dispatched 1.1 million testing kits, six million face masks and 60,000 protective suits.

As of April 5, Africa had over 9,000 confirmed coronavirus cases with nearly 400 deaths.
