The Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced plans to drag Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung’wah to court over his recent abduction remarks.
In a statement on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, after attending a court session to demand the release of the remaining abductees, Wamalwa disclosed their intention to push for Ichung’wah’s appearance over his claims that abductees have self-abducted.
Wamalwa further said that the Kikuyu MP must also be held accountable after the court directed former police Inspector General Japhet Koome to appear on January 27, 2025.
“The Court has directed the personal appearance of @IG_NPS on 27th January 2025 and the production of remaining abductees including Steve Mbiti and Kevin Muthomi who were enjoined today.
“We are also pushing for the appearance of those trivializing the issue of abductions led by @KIMANIICHUNGWAH, which is a matter of great National and International concern, by claiming that the abductees have self-abducted, to substantiate their claims or be held accountable,” Eugene Wamalwa said.

He went on to condemn the government’s failure to address the abduction of the young Kenyans and the remarks of a section of political leaders.
“Sometimes what is worrying is not the seriousness of the challenges facing our Nation, most of which the Bread-based Government has miserably failed to address, but the lack of seriousness, pettiness and mediocrity of our Politics.
“How can you say these Kenyans are abducting themselves? What about those who were abducted and killed, did they abduct and kill themselves? What about Citizens of other Countries like Uganda whose Opposition leader @kizzabesigye1 and the Turkish Nationals who were abducted in Kenya, did they also abduct themselves? #EndAbductionsKE,” he added.
Earlier today, Wamalwa, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, members of the Law Society of Kenya, lawyers, and some of the recently released abductees, took to the Milimani High Court, to demand the release of Steve Mbisi and other missing individuals.
In a statement, Wamalwa expressed concern over the increasing cases of abductions and the return of secret detention and torture chambers.
“We are back in court this morning with my Opposition colleagues, demanding answers from the State on the increasing abductions, enforced disappearances, and extra-judicial killings of government critics in our country. We demand the whereabouts of Steve Mbisi and the other abductees, an end to abductions, and a return to the rule of law, ” Wamalwa stated.
