Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, December 27, 2024, graced the lavish wedding of the daughter of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in Nairobi.

Matiang’is daughter Wendy Bochere married her lover Frankline Kashindi Luseno in a party attended by prominent politicians in the country including opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni among others.

“Marriage is a wonderful journey that needs love, trust, and respect from both partners. Wendy and Frankline, as you begin this new part of your lives, I hope your home is full of peace and joy, and may your relationship be an example for others,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru also reflected on the significance of family in strengthening societal bonds, adding: “Today’s celebration reminds us of the importance of togetherness and the values that bind us as a community.”

On his part, Kioni wished the couple a fulfilling union blessed with love and happiness.

“Today, alongside our Party Leader and the 4th President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, I had the honour of joining the family of my friend Fred Matiang’i to celebrate his daughter’s wedding. It was a joyous occasion filled with love and unity. I extend my heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds for a happy and fulfilling union, blessed with love and happiness. May the heavens shower their journey together with blessings and light,” Kioni said.

Matiang’i who has trained his eyes on the country’s top seat has yet to declare his candidacy in the coming elections publicly.

In the last term of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, Matiang’i was handed sweeping powers which elevated him to a super cabinet secretary, effectively clipping powers previously held by then Deputy President William Ruto.

While Matiang’i has never run for an elective seat in the past, it is out there to be seen how his presence in the 2027 General elections could tilt the political scale.

Uhuru’s newfound dalliance with Ruto led to the nomination of former governors Lee Kinyanjui and William Kabogo and several others including Mutahi Kagwe, Mwangi wa Iria and Peter Kenneth to plum government jobs.
