KeNHA has reopened a section of the Thika Super Highway which was closed for five days to allow for the construction of a footbridge.

In a statement on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, KeNHA stated that the section of the Thika Super Highway at the Juja area near Centurion will be open to traffic.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) is now open for traffic. This follows the completion of footbridge construction at the section and road users can now access this section safely,” KeNHA stated.

Cooperation from motorists

KeNHA thanked motorists for their cooperation during the entire period of the construction.

“The Authority thanks you for your cooperation and patience. At KeNHA, your safety is our utmost priority,” KeNHA said.

During the announcement of the closure, KeNHA revealed that the closure was to complete the construction of a footbridge in the area to reduce cases of accidents involving pedestrians crossing the road.

KeNHA urged motorists travelling to the capital Nairobi to use a diversion behind the Lexo petrol station before rejoining back to the Superhighway.

Equally, motorists heading to Thika, KeNHA set up a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before rejoining back to the Superhighway.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the statement by KeNHA indicated.
