The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public advisory on a temporary traffic disruption set to take place along the Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint (Centurion).

In a statement shared via X account on Friday, December 6, 2024, the highways authority announced that the temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new footbridge in the area.

According to KeNHA, the disruptions will occur nightly from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Tuesday, December 17, 2024, between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am.

Motorists

During this period, motorists travelling towards Nairobi will be diverted behind Lexo Petrol Station before rejoining the Superhighway. Similarly, those heading towards Thika will use a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before getting back onto the main road.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to enable the construction of the footbridge from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Tuesday, December 17, 2024, between 2300hrs to 0600hrs. Nairobi bound traffic will use a diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining back to the Superhighway, while Thika bound traffic will use a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before rejoining back to the Superhighway,” KeNHA announced.

KeNHA urged motorists to exercise caution while navigating the work zones and to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement. Police officers and traffic marshals will be present on-site to direct vehicles and maintain order.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA added.
