The year was full of drama, conflicts, scandals and moments that most Kenyans will relish in 2025 and years to come.
Here are some of the unforgettable internet moments of 2024;
Baltasar Ebang Engonga
Though from Equatorial Guinea, Engonga made headlines globally after hundreds of sex tapes leaked online.
The videos left tounges wagging for Kenyans and global netizens as Bello, nicknamed so because of his good looks, exhibited his bedroom prowess.
Engonga is a nephew of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema and one of those thought to be hoping to replace him.
Obiang is the world’s longest-serving president having been in power since 1979.
Kasongo moments
Until 2024, ‘Kasongo’ was a famous hit by Orch Super Mazembe composed, recorded and performed in the 1970s.
The hit which was categorised in the Zilizopendwa category of music seems to have gotten a new lease of life, now being used in political satire.
Originally, written by Alley Katele, who also took on lead vocals, the track features a woman pleading for her estranged husband to return home.
Henceforth, the song might never regain its original purpose, especially in the Kenyan political spheres.
Adani deal
Were it not for the internet, the infamous Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) takeover by the Adani Group could have happened.
First revealed by whistleblower Nelson Amenya, the Adani takeover took the internet by storm with Kenyans protesting the takeover.
The deal, which would have seen the Indian conglomerate take over, renovate and operate JKIA for 30 years was cancelled after the group was flagged in the US.
The government of Kenya also cancelled a similar deal signed between Adani and the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).
