Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie alias KJ has been summoned over a social media post in which he claimed that there are more people in forced quarantined than those released by the authorities.

Dagoretti Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Francis Wanjau told K24 Digital that the MP is being questioned.

“He was summoned 45 minutes ago. We are still grilling him. I can not confirm at this point whether he will be released or detained for the night,” said Mr. Wanjau.

During his briefing on Sunday on the current coronavirus cases in Kenya, the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe took a swipe at an unnamed MP for spreading misinformation.

CS Kagwe said that contrary to the legislator’s claim that there are over 7,000 people in forced quarantined, only 2,050 people are in mandatory quarantine in 14 government-designated facilities.

Currently, police are questioning the Jubilee MP at the Kabete Police Station.
