A building under construction in the Majengo area of Mombasa County collapsed on Monday, November 11, 2024, leaving one person trapped beneath the rubble, the Kenya Red Cross has confirmed.

Emergency responders, including the Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Police, and Mombasa County Government, have deployed a multi-agency team to the site to carry out search and rescue operations.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, two individuals have been successfully rescued from the debris and are currently receiving medical attention.

“A building under construction in Majengo, Mombasa County has collapsed. Two people have been rescued, while one person is feared trapped. A multi-agency response team, including the Kenya Police, County Government of Mombasa and the Kenya Red Cross, is currently conducting search and rescue operations,” the statement by Kenya Red Cross read.
