President William Ruto has joined other World Leaders in sending congratulatory messages to Donald J. Trump who has sealed his return to the White House four years after voters turned him out.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, President Ruto expressed his confidence in Trump’s leadership indicating that the historic win against Vice President Kamala Harris was a testament to the trust the American electorates had bestowed upon him.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and on my own behalf, I convey to Your Excellency, my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America.

“Your victory is a testament to the firm resolve of the American people to repose confidence in your visionary, bold and innovative leadership,” Ruto’s statement read in part.

Ruto’s commitment

In his message, the Head of State also expressed his readiness to cooperate with Trump and America at large in promoting trade, investment and technology.

Further, Ruto made it clear that Kenya stands ready to continue building on the partnership with the US to deepen the democracies of the two nations.

“As you embark on this phase of your journey of leadership, Kenya stands ready to further enhance our cooperation on matters of mutual interest including trade, investment, technology & innovation, peace and security, and sustainable development.

“Kenya values its longstanding partnership with the United States spanning over sixty years grounded in our shared values of democracy, development and mutual respect. We look forward to deepening our collaboration under your leadership as we work together to address global challenges, promote peace and security and foster inclusive economic growth for the benefit of our peoples,” Ruto added.

Ruto enjoyed cordial ties with the outgoing regime which was led by President Joe Biden. To showcase the goodwill between the two nations, Biden invited Ruto to the US for a historic state visit.

While in the US, Ruto started his visit in Atlanta, Georgia where he toured the Carter Presidential Library and Museum, among other engagements.

He then met a congressional delegation and called for the extension of a free trade agreement — the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) — which eliminates import tariffs on goods from eligible African nations.

Biden’s administration was also among the supporters of the Haiti Mission where they sent aid and money support.

With Trump now expected to ascend to the high office, it is not clear if the US will still play an active role in supporting the mission.

However, Ruto has wished Trump the best of luck in his tenure.

“Congratulations once again Mr. President-Elect, and may your tenure bring continued progress and unity to the United States of America and strengthen the bonds between our two great nations.

“Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
