Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua has announced job vacancies for Kenyans interested in working abroad specifically, in Qatar.
In a statement on his official X account on Thursday, October 24, 2024, Mutua invited interested and qualified Kenyans to apply for various job vacancies offered by an unnamed Qatari company in collaboration with his ministry.
In addition, Mutua stated that the interview will be conducted in Nairobi at Kabete National Polytechnic and KICC from Friday, October 25, 2024, until Sunday, October 27, 2024.
“A Qatari company, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, is in Nairobi conducting interviews for various job opportunities over the next two days,” Mutua announced.
Additionally, Mutua stated that only those familiar with job vacancies advertised in the hospitality and construction industry will be allowed entry at the interviewing station.
“Please ensure you are familiar with your industry and job duties. Only candidates for the listed job openings will be allowed entry,” he said.
Mutua added that no fee would be charged for the interview or consideration adding that once hired the qualified candidate would be given requirements for medical and visa processing.
As for air tickets and other travel modalities, the CS said that would provided free of charge. Mutua further warned those going for the interview against handing over their passport to anyone.
“No Fee will be charged to be interviewed or considered, once hired, you will be given requirements for medical, Visa processing etc. Air tickets and other travel modalities will be provided free of charge. Do not hand over your passport to anyone,” Mutua stated.

Hospitality and service industry
The interviews will be conducted at KICC from today until Sunday starting from 7.30 am and the job openings include nurses, commis, demi chefs, chef de partie, kitchen helpers, bar backs, runners, waitresses, stewarding supervisors, kids attendants, hotel maintenance technicians, light vehicle drivers and heavy vehicle drivers.
Construction and technical roles
The interviews will be conducted at Kabete National Polytechnic from today until Sunday starting from 7.30 am and the job openings include operators (excavators, mobile cranes, skid loaders, backhoe loaders, single drum rollers, telehandlers, boom trucks, water tankers, tipper trucks, tower cranes.
Other openings include digger signalmen, construction helpers, cleaners, storekeepers, electricians, plumbers, masons, tile layers, steel fixers, painters, welders and scaffolders.
Dress code and requirements
Candidates will be required to wear black and white or overall where applicable and have a detailed CV, passport-size photos and passport.
