The Stanchart Marathon which will begin on October 27, 2024, will see the following roads closed from Saturday, October 26, 2024.
From Karen Shopping Centre to Kikuyu via Southern Bypass will be closed, however, motorists will have the option of using Dagoretti Road.
Also, the road from Karen Shopping Centre to Mombasa Road via Southern Bypass will be closed. Motorists will use Lang’ata Road as an alternative.
The road from Lang’ata Road from Galleria Mall towards Kikuyu via the Southern Bypass will be closed and motorists will use Dagoretti Road via Lang’ata Road.
The road from the Inland Container Depot (ICD) to Kikuyu via Southern Bypass will be closed and motorists will be required to use Waiyaki Way via Uhuru Highway/ Mombasa Road.
Mombasa Road to Ole Sereni will be closed and motorists will be required to access Ole Sereni via NextGen Mall.
Likoni Road to Mombasa Road through the Southern Bypass will be closed and motorists will have to use Enterprise Road.
Southern Bypass
Also, motorists from Kikuyu going towards Dagoretti will have to use the Southern Bypass.
Motorists from Karen (Karinde) towards Kikuyu will use the Southern Bypass through Dagoretti Road.
Similarly, motorists from Kikuyu travelling towards Mombasa Road will use Waiyaki Way as an alternative.
Also, the road from Dagoretti towards Mombasa Road will be closed and motorists will use Waiyaki Way through Ngong Road and Mbagathi Way.
Equally, motorists from Lenana towards Kikuyu via Southern Bypass will use Waiyaki Way through Naivasha Road or James Gichuru Road.
Also, motorists using Lenana Road to access Mombasa Road via the Southern Bypass will use Lang’ata Road through Karen Road.
Trailers and lorries from Waiyaki Way to Mombasa Road via Southern Bypass will use Waiyaki Way.
Collection of StanChart kits
Currently, the dates for the collection of kits have been set as from October 23, 2024, to October 26, 2024.
All is set for the city marathon which has garnered support from sponsors amounting to more than Ksh170 million.
Registration for the race hit the target of the intended 23,000 participants, setting the stage for a gruelling battle for top finishes in the various categories of race events.
Organisers of the race were forced to extend the number of participants to 25,000 following a growing demand for participation in the Stanchart marathon.
The proceeds obtained from the Stanchart will go towards helping young people, especially young women and people living with disabilities learn, earn and grow.
