The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has listed over 16 counties to remain generally sunny and dry.
According to the weather advisory, the dry spell is expected over a few places from Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to Saturday, October 26, 2024. The sunny intervals will be accompanied by partly cloudy nights.
“The Coast, North-eastern, North-western, and South-eastern lowlands will remain generally sunny and dry,” Kenya Met announced in the general outlook report.
The listed counties include North-western (Turkana and Samburu counties) and North-eastern (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties)
Others are the southeastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties) as well as inland parts of Tana River County.
In the coastal region, the counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale in the five days, are set to experience partly cloudy with sunny intervals.
The weatherman indicated that these regions will experience daytime temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall
Apart from sunny and dry weather, the weatherman also indicated in the comprehensive five-day forecast report, that counties within Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will experience rainfall and isolated storms in the next five days.
The listed counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet.
Others are Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties.
According to the forecast report, the weatherman also indicated that the chances of rainfall in Nairobi and other counties within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are minimal. Rainfall is expected in the mornings and afternoons before transitioning to evenings only over a few places.
Kenya Met explains that the weather will be characterised by partly cloudy conditions before breaking into sunny intervals in most parts of the day for the next five days.
Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties are among the areas listed by the Kenya Met that will experience similar weather patterns as Nairobi.
