Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka graced the traditional wedding of lawyer Ndegwa Njiru in Tala, Kang’undo Sub-County in Machakos County, on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

The former Vice President has taken to his official social media accounts to splash some photos taken during the event.

From the photos, various political leaders from the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition faction that is led by Kalonzo can be seen.

Notable political figures at the event are Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Kitui County Senator Enoch Wambua, Makueni County Senator Daniel Maanzo, Machakos County Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama, Embakasi South MP Julius Mawathe, his Matungulu counterpart Stephen Mutinda Mule, and former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

Kalonzo on Njiru’s wedding

While congratulating Njiru and his wife, Laureen Ndanu, Kalonzo stated that the wedding not only celebrated the uniting of Kirinyaga and Machakos but the entire country.

He further stated that Ndanu’s name signifies happiness, praying that she keeps her family happy.

Moreover, Kalonzo stated that he considered the event the wedding of the year.

“This Ngasya/Ruracio of Negwa Njiru and Ndanu celebrates not only Kirinyaga and Machakos but the entire country. Thus, I consider this to be The Wedding of the Year. Ndanu, your name signifies happiness. I pray that you will keep your family happy and that your children are blessed,” Kalonzo stated.

Who is Ndegwa Njiru?

Njiru is known for his immense experience as a constitutional lawyer, having graduated to the bar in 2011.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Kampala International University and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

He first came to light in 2020 during the hearing of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru’s impeachment case.

At the time, he was representing the Kirinyaga Members of the County Assembly (MCAs). 

Ndegwa Njiru has also featured in other prominent cases in the country, including the impeachment case against former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko, the impeachment case against former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, and the impeachment case against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Recently, Njiru made the headlines during Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment trial at the Senate, in which he represented the ousted DP.
