The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather forecast from Tuesday, October 8, 2024, to Saturday, October 12, 2024.
In the weather advisory, issued on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the weatherman predicted that rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast.
“Rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast. The rest of the country is likely to be generally sunny and dry,” the Kenya Met stated.

Rainfall
According to the forecast, rainfall is expected in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley especially in the afternoon.
The counties within this jurisdiction include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.
Rainfall with sunny intervals
According to the weatherman, there will be chances of rainfall in the counties within the highlands East of the Rift Valley, especially in the afternoon. Mornings will be characterised by cloudy weather before breaking into sunny intervals.
The counties include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.
Residents of these counties are expected to experience extreme cold conditions, with the weatherman predicting minimum temperatures to hit 7 degrees Celsius.
According to Kenya Met’s general outlook, counties within the coastal region, south-eastern lowlands and northeastern are expected to experience almost similar weather conditions.
Coastal counties include Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale while north-eastern counties include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo. South-eastern counties include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.
Residents of these areas will experience daytime temperatures above 30°C.
Sunny and dry
Counties in the north-western including Turkana and Samburu will not receive rainfall in the next five days.
According to the weatherman’s general outlook, evenings are also expected to be characterised by partly cloudy weather conditions.
