Friday blackout to affect 4 counties including Nairobi

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout affecting aome parts of four counties on Friday, September 13, 2024.

According to the utility company, the outage that will affect parts of Nairobi, Kakamega, Homa Bay and Nyeri counties is part of a planned routine maintenance.

In Nairobi County, residents in parts of Runda will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Runda Mumwe Estate, parts of Eliud Mathu Road, Pan Africa Insurance, Eagle Park, Benin Drive, Afana Road, and nearby customers.

In Kakamega County, several regions are scheduled to be without power during the same timeframe. These areas include Shianda KMTC, Ekero, Malakha, Shitoto, Lubinu, Amatia, Maraba, and Shianda Market, along with adjacent customers.

Additionally, parts of Homa Bay County, specifically Wachara and Kalamindi, will also be affected. Kenya Power highlighted that areas such as Wachara, Rachar, Mbani, Ranen Mikumi, Nyarandi, Nyamogo, and Kalamindi will experience a power disruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Finally, in Nyeri County, regions in the Mt. Kenya area will also be impacted. Power will be off from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in Mukangu, Gatina, and surrounding areas.

This includes Kirigu Coffee Factory, Gatina Coffee Factory, Gakuyu Secondary School, Mukangu Dispensary, Mukangu Market, and Mukangu Secondary School, among others. Safaricom and Airtel boosters in the area will also be affected.
