Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that some parts of the country will experience moderate rainfall from September 10 to 16, 2024.
According to the weatherman, cloudy and sunny intervals are expected over most parts of the country. However, Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast may receive light to moderate rainfall.
“Most parts of Kenya will experience generally sunny and dry conditions. However, expect light to moderate rainfall in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast,” Kenya Met prediction reads.
According to the forecast, low night-time temperatures (below 10°C) leading to chilly nights are anticipated in Central Highlands, Central & South Rift Valley, and South-eastern Lowlands.
High temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected during the daytime in the South Rift Valley, Coast, Western, North-eastern, and North-western parts of the country.
“Night-time temperatures in some areas of the Central Highlands, Central & South Rift Valley, and South-eastern Lowlands are expected to drop below 10°C, leading to chilly nights. During the day, high temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in the South Rift Valley, Coast, Western, North-eastern, and North-western parts of the country,” the weatherman announced.
Specific areas
Areas in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley that will experience sunny morning intervals with light showers afternoon condition include, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.
Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties will also experience cool and cloudy conditions.
Highlands East of the Rift Valley including counties of Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka are expected to experience cloudy and sunny morning conditions.
North-western (Turkana and Samburu counties) and North-eastern( Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties ) will experience sunny conditions with partly cloudy nights.
Coastal region the counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale In the five days, set to experience moderate rainfall with sunny intervals.
