Monday blackout to affect 4 counties

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, affecting some parts of four counties.

The planned blackout is set to affect various parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Vihiga, and Kisii counties.

The utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the planned interruption.

In Nairobi County, the power interruption will affect areas of Muthaiga between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Specific locations impacted include Mobil Plaza, Gertrude Children’s Hospital, Serengeti Road, Naivasha Road, and parts of Limuru Road, along with 6th Parklands Avenue and adjacent customers.

Kiambu County will experience a similar outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in areas such as Farmers Choice, Nyambare, Murengeti, Kinyogori, Uplands Police Station, Githirioni, Mutosi, Nyamweru, Kwaregen, and nearby regions.

In Vihiga County, two main areas will be affected. In Eregi, the blackout will last from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, affecting locations such as Eregi TTC, Eregi Mission, Eregi Distillers, Madivini, and Shianjetso. Also included are Kegondi Health Center, Lusiola Secondary School, Chandumba, and other adjacent areas. Similarly, the Mudete Tea Factory area will experience an outage from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, impacting Mudete Market, Evojo, Bendera, Kisatiru, and several nearby locations.

Kisii County will see a more extended blackout, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, in Nyosia and Ibeno areas. Affected locations include Keumbu, Eremo, Keboba, Nyabisabo, and Nyanturago, as well as Kiamokama Factory, Kirwa, Kangwana, and several adjacent customers.
