A section of Juja area in Kiambu county will on Sunday, September 1, 2024, experience a power blackout that will last for eight hours.
Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) in a statement issued on the night of Saturday, August 31, 2024, stated that the said area will experience the blackout due to planned power interruptions.
Kenya Power maintenance
The utility company in the statement announced that the power interruptions, which is meant for maintenance purposes, will happen between 9 am and 5 pm.
The areas that will be affected are those around Juja Oasis and Mirimaini.
They are Juja Pulp, Silvercoin, Cura Complex, Juja Slaughter, High Plast Industries, and adjacent Kenya power customers.
“Scheduled power interruptions (sunday, 01st september 2024), kiambu county. Area: juja oasis, mirimaini date: sunday 01.09.2024 time: 9.00 α.Μ. – 5.00 ρ.Μ. Juja pulp, silvercoin, cura complex, juja slaughter, high plast industries & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power said in the statement shared via their official X account.

Power interruptions
Kenya Power has been interrupting electricity supply to different parts of the country on specific days, for scheduled maintenance purposes, to curb power outage issues in the country.
Areas of Uasin Gishu county were the ones that got affected on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
In a statement issued via social media, the utility company announced that the planned Saturday power interruption that is meant for maintenance purposes would hit Uasin Gishu County.
The areas that will be affected are places around Maili Nne. The areas set to experience power blackout between 10 am and 5 pm are Rabbi Academy, Safaricom booster, Road block, Bayete Shopping Centre, and adjacent customers.
Nationwide blackout
The country has been experiencing nationwide blackouts in several incidences, which Kenya Power is aiming to address.
For instance, Kenya Power on Friday, August 30, 2024, confirmed an outage of electricity in most parts of the country, except the North Rift region and sections of the Western region.
The utility firm did not reveal the cause of the blackout, only noting that it is working to restore power and will notify Kenyans once normalcy returns.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normalcy at the earliest opportunity,” Kenya Power said in a statement to newsrooms.
“We will issue an update on the progress of the power restoration exercise as soon as possible.”
