Friday blackout: List of counties to be hit by power outage

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage set for Friday, August 29, 2024, that will affect parts of the country.

The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.

In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”

The temporary outage is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors and daily activities in these areas.

Kenya Power said the scheduled blackout on Friday will affect Nairobi and Kakamega counties

Nairobi

Area: Parts of Dandora

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Part of Komarocks Rd, Councillor Opundo Rd, Dandora Phase 5, Gitari, Marigu & adjacent customers.

Area: Nyangiela, Katanga

Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Places affected: Zuri Hotel, Ragama Posho Mill, Nyangiela Mkt, Doi Mkt, Katanga Mkt, Freddy Janam, Kuoyo Mkt, Nyagowa Pri, Opija Safaricom Booster, Got Kwach, Kimanyi SDA, Ayoro Coffee, Mathenge Mkt, Ouru Mkt, God Ber Sec, Ranena Pd Sch & adjacent customers

Kakamega

Area: Lubao Market

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Lubao Mkt, Handiti, Bishop Stamp, Karlo, Bishop Sulumeti, Nyayo Tea Zone, Kakamega Show Ground, Stage Mboga, Bukhaywa Booster, Lubao FM, Emusala, Emukaba, Lurambi, Mwiyala, Mukhweso Junction, Lwakhuba Mkt, Lwakhuba Village & adjacent customers.
