Marakwet West MP Timothy Kipchumba has nudged President William Ruto to fulfil a promise he made regarding the completion of the Chebara institutions in his constituency.

Speaking to his constituents on Thursday, August 29, 2024, Kipchumba vented his frustration over the uncompleted project, which, according to him, had already been a topic of conversation with the President.

Chebara Institutions apa, niliomba raisi, alisema niende niangalie watu was NYS kama walifika, na walifika, lakini mpaka sai, Chebara Institution bado haijamalizika,” Kipchumba said.

He urged the President to ensure that funds are allocated to complete the institutions, which have been left in limbo for a considerable period.

The MP emphasized the importance of keeping promises made to the public, warning against the consequences of broken commitments.

“Naomba raise leo, tukipeana promises kwa uwanja, let us ensure there is money to complete the projects. Kila wakati naambia raisi ii mashule haijamalizika,” he stated.

Kipchumba highlighted the recent protest by Gen Z during which they managed to breach the parliament which he noted should be a glaring sign that the youth have had enough of the government’s half-baked promises.

He pointed out that the protest serves as a warning and a reminder that the youth are no longer willing to tolerate dishonesty or inaction from their leaders.

He urged the President to look into their discussions and speed up the project so that his people don’t make him an example.

Kwa sababu Gen Z walituvamia bunge kwa sababu ya uongo ya kuambia raia, mi sitaki kuvamiwa Marakwet, nataka kufanya kazi kulingana na ile ajenda nilipewa,” Kipchumba declared.

The lawmaker’s comments come in the wake of anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests on June 25, where demonstrators stormed parliament, forcing members of parliament to take cover.
