Traders count losses as fire breaks out at Bed Palace

A huge fire broke at the Bed Palace along Zimmerman area, Thika Road on the morning of Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Videos seen online show the renowned furniture place engulfed in flames, as a thick cloud of smoke billowed into the sky.

Witnesses recounted that the fire razed down furniture of unknown value. The cause of the fire, however, remains unknown.

While confirming the unfortunate incident Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei stated that no injuries have been reported in the fire that broke at 10 am

“So far no injuries reported but property was destroyed in the fire,” Bungei said.

At the time of publishing, rescue efforts from local residents and the Kenya Red Cross had intensified.

“A fire incident has been reported at Bed Palace along Thika Road. Response teams en route to the scene,” Kenya Red Cross had stated.

The incident marks the second fire incident at the shop after a similar incident happened on December 8, 2023.

Despite rescue efforts from the Nairobi Disaster Management, the fire destoyed property of unknown value.
