Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage set for Thursday, August 22, 2024, that will affect parts of the country.
The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.
In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”
The temporary outage is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors and daily activities in these areas.
Kenya Power said the scheduled blackout on Thursday will affect Meru, Laikipia and Nyeri counties.
Meru
Area: Mikinduri, Kigucwa
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Mikinduri Mkt, Mucuune Mkt, Mucuune Hosp, Kiguchwa Mkt, Kaliana Boarding, Irindiro Mkt, Ngutu, Githu kwa Munya & adjacent customers.
Laikipia
Area: Makutano, Kongoni
Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Affected places: Makutano, Turraccco, HM Clause, Kongoni Farm, Everest Farm, Equinox, Color Crops, Ibis Farm, & adjacent customers.
Nyeri
Area: Othaya Town, Mahiga
Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
