Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai is questioning the feasibility of a prisoner escaping from Gigiri Police Station given the tight security.

In a statement shared on his X account, Alai expressed disbelief at the possibility of someone escaping from the well-guarded facility following the escape of 13 including Collins Jumaisi, the prime suspect in the Kware murder cases.

“How does someone escape pale Gigiri? It’s full of Kenyan and foreign security agents. How do you escape from that station with the 4 doors? Halafu from the police station compound you walk to Ruaka or what? This doesn’t make sense,” he remarked.

According to Nairobi Regional Commander Adamson Bungei, the inmates escaped from Gigiri Police Station on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Jumaisi was a murder suspect awaiting his plea hearing on Friday. The other 12 escapees were Eritrean nationals.

Last Friday, the police were granted an additional seven days to detain three suspects, including Jumaisi, who was linked to the Kware killings.

The suspects, Jumaisi Khalusha, Amos Momanyi, and Moses Ogembo, are accused of murdering up to 42 women. They were brought before Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi, where the prosecution requested to hold them for 21 more days.
