Zari Hassan and her husband, Shakib Cham Lutaaya, have taken their marital feud public, exchanging sharp words online in the wake of tension brought on by the unexpected visit of Diamond Platnumz.
The controversy began when Diamond, who is the father of Zari’s daughter Tiffah, surprised her at the family’s South African mansion for her 9th birthday on August 6, 2024.
Shakib, who lives in Uganda, was not informed of Diamond’s visit to South Africa where Zari dwells with her children.
Having been left out of the loop about the visit, Shakib got furious with Zari for allowing her ex-partner into their home without informing him.
This has sparked significant concerns about trust and transparency in their relationship.
In response to Shakib’s frustration, Zari addressed the issue on social media, asserting that her husband’s reaction stemmed from baseless insecurity.
The 43-year-old mother of five even issued an ultimatum, telling Shakib to stop being insecure or risk her leaving him.
Shakib reacts
Shakib, not one to back down, responded to Zari’s public remarks during a phone interview with Gossip Live, where he opened up about the challenges in their marriage.
He emphasized the major role of respect in any relationship, expressing disappointment that this seemed to be lacking in theirs.
“The mistake I made was thinking that the love is mutual. No marriage can last long without respect,” Shakib lamented.
He went further, suggesting that despite the fame attached to being Zari’s husband, he felt disrespected and unvalued.
Shakib drew comparisons to Ugandan singer Rema Namakula, praising her for never disrespecting her current husband, Hamza, despite co-parenting with her ex, Eddy Kenzo.
In a particularly biting comment, Shakib mocked Zari’s age, saying he did not anticipate having children with her because, in his view, she was already in menopause.
“I don’t expect to have kids with Zari; she’s in menopause,” Shakib declared.
I was a respectful wife
In a swift response, Zari took to Snapchat to defend her reputation amidst the blitz of accusations from Shakib, insisting that she had been a loving, respectful, and loyal wife.
The quadragenarian stressed that she did her best as a wife, suggesting that the pressure in their marriage might be causing the tensions that had been brewing.
“I loved, I was submissive, I was very respectful, I was loyal, I was genuine, I cared, I nurtured,” Zari wrote.
Adding that; ” Sometimes the pressure is too much and it causes certain things to erupt like volcano. There is a reason behind everything.”
