The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) in collaboration with the Office of the President, has conducted a leadership programme for the new Cabinet Secretaries.

The CSs are still new in their jobs after they were sworn in recently following their appointment and approval by Parliament. President William Ruto initially dissolved the cabinet before he named a new one that consisted of members from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, NDU, in conjunction with the executive, conducted a programme themed ‘a new paradigm beckons, and it was held at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi.

“The programme underscores the pivotal importance of the Cabinet in overseeing public affairs, providing a platform for the newly reconstituted Cabinet to cultivate synergy as they embark on their significant roles as Cabinet Secretaries. Further, the programme is designed to equip Cabinet Secretaries with the necessary skills, knowledge, and insights to effectively navigate the complexities of their roles within the Kenyan government.

“The programme also included contemporary challenges in governance, security, and peacebuilding, reflecting the dynamic nature of the political landscape in Kenya and beyond,” MOD said in a statement.

He said that the forum was aimed at equipping members with comprehensive information on government operations, constitutional imperatives, and the legal administrative, operational, and sociopolitical aspects impacting public service delivery.

“The program will build members’ knowledge on the fundamental governance framework and accountability, national values, ethos, and ethics, as well as deepening understanding of the executive role in managing public affairs,” Koskei said.
